Now that your medium breed puppy is around 7-12 months old, it has reached the adolescent stage when the body is almost fully developed, and the growth stage has peaked. In this “teenager” lifestage, your young adult dog also has changing nutritional needs requiring a slightly different diet that maintains healthy weight gain and supports their joints.  VETERINARY HPM® Junior Medium Dog is an energy-dense dry dog food with a high 35% protein content (90% from animal sources) and low carbohydrates (25%) mean lots of energy for playing and running.

 The low 25% carbohydrate content prevents excessive weight gain and potential osteoarticular issues caused by the pressure of weight on joints.  To help your young dog's digestive tract function properly, this formula provides prebiotics (fructo-oligosaccharides) and postbiotics (lactobacilli) that are scientifically proven to support beneficial flora and a healthy microbiome. Psyllium fibre maintains regular digestion and stool, while bentonite ensures normal stool odour and consistency.

In addition to protecting the urinary health of your young medium breed dog, VETERINARY HPM® Junior Medium Dog also contains ingredients like omega-3 fish oil to improve the skin and coat.

FAQ

Switching over to a new dog food can be a challenge in terms of taste and digestion. The best way to help your dog get used to VETERINARY HPM® Junior Special Diet for Medium Breeds dry dog food is to do it gradually over a period of 5 to 7 days. The following schedule is recommended*: > Days 1 and 2: 75% current food + 25% VETERINARY HPM® > Days 3 and 4: 50% current food + 50% VETERINARY HPM® > Days 5 and 6: 25% current food + 75% VETERINARY HPM® > Day 7: 100% VETERINARY HPM® *Consult a veterinarian for expert nutritional advice adapted for your pet.

Your young adult dog will love VETERINARY HPM® Junior Special Diet for Medium Breeds dry dog food because it’s delicious, but resist the urge to feed them every time they ask for more. This is a carefully formulated diet, so we strongly recommend following the standard daily rations for their weight and age. You will find our complete feeding guidelines on the bag, but your vet or vet technician can provide you with a feeding plan that is more customized for your pet. The recommended minimum daily amount a dog should drink is 50-70 ml of water per kilogram of bodyweight. VETERINARY HPM® dry dog food is specially formulated with a higher protein content than other dry foods, which will encourage your young medium breed dog to naturally consume more water. Don’t worry because this is a good thing! It keeps them well hydrated, which is especially important in hot climates or during the warmer seasons.
