Product details
Struvite stones are very common in cats, and are usually caused by urinary tract infection, poor water intake or/and dietary imbalances. These hard deposits collect in the bladder and block urination, which can cause considerable discomfort and pain. It can be life-threatening if not addressed, but it can be treated with the right diet.
VETERINARY HPM® Cat Urology Struvite Dissolution is a clinical dry food that you feed your cat for 5 to 12 weeks. It helps break down and flush out struvite stones, and can also be used as a diet to reduce the recurrence of a different sort of urinary tract deposit called oxalate stones.
Ideally adapted to cats’ needs and optimal health, Veterinary HPM® U1 Struvite Dissolution offers a low-carb, high-protein formula containing 23% carbohydrates and 44% protein (of which 90% of animal origin).
This dietary formula provides all the daily nutrition your cat needs while:
- Managing feline urinary tract diseases
- Dissolving struvite stones in an average of 14 days
- Stimulating water intake to encourage increased urination
- Diluting and acidifying urine with a high protein and sodium content for fast results
- Reduces urinary tract inflammation with a high level of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA + DHA)
- Binding phosphorus to lower the risk of future struvite and oxalate stones
- Lowering carbohydrate intake
This formula is also analysed for a low struvite RSS (relative supersaturation) of below 1 to effectively dissolve and prevent reccurrence of struvite crystals.
Once your cat’s struvite stones have been dissolved, we recommend feeding them VETERINARY HPM® Urology 2 Dissolution & Prevention dry cat food for long-term prevention.
The Veterinary HPM® dietetic range helps to manage several pathologies and is more adapted to feline carnivore needs thanks to its low carb and high protein content (moderate in the case of kidney disease).
