Cats can develop bladder stones for a variety of reasons such as a dietary imbalance, poor water intake or an infection in the urinary tract or bladder. Struvite crystals and calcium oxalate stones are the most common types in cats, and these hard deposits in their urinary system can cause considerable discomfort and pain.

Veterinarians typically recommend a clinical diet to help dissolve the stones and flush them out of their system through urine. Veterinary HPM® Urology is a urinary care dry cat food and complete diet that not only helps break up and eliminate struvite stones, but it also helps prevent new struvite and oxalate crystals from forming.

Ideally adapted to cats’ needs and optimal health, Veterinary HPM® U2 Dissolution & prevention offers a low-carb, high-protein formula containing 23% carbohydrates and 44% protein (of which 90% of animal origin).

In addition to providing all the daily nutrition your cat requires, this special dry dietary formula:

  • Contains an elevated high-quality protein content (44%) to encourage your cat to drink more, thereby increasing urination for faster elimination of hard bladder deposits
  • Is analysed for a low struvite RSS (relative supersaturation) of <1 to treat dissolve and prevent bladder stones
  • Helps balance the pH of urine to prevent both struvite and oxalate crystals from returning

Follow the feeding guidelines on the package for your cat’s body weight to provide the ideal daily ration. This food is suitable for adult and senior cats not diagnosed with chronic kidney disease or cardiac insufficiency. Do not use during growth stages (kittens and junior cats) or while pregnant or lactating.

The formulation induces urine undersaturated for struvite stones with struvite RSS* <1 to promote rapid* dissolution of struvite stones [1] [2].

The addition of fish oil increases the amount of omega-3, especially EPA+DHA, and helps limit lower urinary tract (LUT) inflammation.

Urinary pH between 6.0-6.5 helps dissolve struvite stones without increasing the risk of oxalate formation [2].

The phosphorus binder chitosan helps reduce the bioavailability of phosphorus to decrease urinary excretion [2].

VETERINARY HPM Urology Struvite Dissolution dry cat food is formulated with a high protein content (44%). This makes your kitty feel thirstier and drink more water, which increases how often they urinate and pass dissolved struvite stones. It also dilutes and acidifies your cat’s urine and reduces urinary tract inflammation to prevent new struvite and oxalate stones from forming.

VETERINARY HPM® is very palatable, but we recommend following the daily rations indicated in the feeding guidelines on the bag. Your can always consult your vet or vet technician for a feeding guide tailored for your pet.

Switching over to a new cat food can be a challenge in terms of taste and digestion. The best way to help your furball get used to a new food is to do it gradually over a period of 5 to 7 days. The following schedule is recommended*: > Days 1 and 2: 75% current food + 25% VETERINARY HPM® > Days 3 and 4: 50% current food + 50% VETERINARY HPM® > Days 5 and 6: 25% current food + 75% VETERINARY HPM® > Day 7: 100% VETERINARY HPM® *Consult a veterinarian for expert nutritional advice adapted for your pet.

A cat should drink 60ml per kilogram of their bodyweight each day. VETERINARY HPM Urology Struvite Dissolution dry cat food has a higher amount of protein compared to other dry foods to make your kitty thirstier and drink more water. This will help flush the dissolved stones out of their system faster. So it’s a good thing that they’re drinking more water!
